Because the earth is our home, and nature, our mother. Because we are her children, brothers, and sisters to one another. Because humanity matters, as well as each and every precious spirit.
Because the earth and all who inhabit upon her deserve the very best in us, and no matter how bad things may seem or how real the suffering, love is also real. And that means something.
Life is hard, but the suffering we inflict on one another does not need to be part of it.
First, we liberate ourselves from the belief that suffering is inevitable. Then embrace the idea of a kinder and more equitable life, because that is the only sane way to live.
And don’t our children deserve that?
Our children, our dreams, all the possibilities and potential of what we can be deserves us to face the dark, transforming it from tomb to womb, or to walk through it toward the light, both within and without, the light that calls us to new beginnings.
To fall not into despair, but into love.
To be love. Now, that’s hella defiant.
We can turn it around. Though spring equinox never arrives the very next day or even weeks out after the winter solstice, it is making its way.
As we are making ours.
Together.
