If you need help NOWβ¦reach out for it NOW.
If you feel you, or a loved one, are in immediate or eminent danger, either from another person or yourself, please call crisis intervention or hotline, the police if necessary, or a shelter or service near you. Your safety comes first. Get started in securing it.
If you feel lonely, depressed, or just need someone to talk to, you can also call crisis intervention or one of the hotlines. You donβt need to be in a crisis. We often underestimate what weβre going through, anyway. Reach out. Donβt go through this alone.
Some resources are listed below.
Also, donβt wait until youβre in crisis. Create a list of resources to have at hand, in view or in easy-to-find place: services, numbers to call, places to go, friends, peer support, and professionals to reach out to.
If you want, you can jot down acts or practices that have worked for you, or appeals to you, like reminders to βbreatheβ, or suggestions to βmoveβ or βdanceβ, βlean against a treeβ, βwriteβ, whatever may make you feel a little more grounded or centered in the moment.
Update list as needed to stay current with where you are.
Create a self-care plan, so you donβt have to think about what to do, when you may be least able to.
I live in the United States, so most of my resources will be from the U.S, but I will include resources from other countries.
If you know of a reliable organization to suggest for inclusion, please list it in the comments below, and Iβll check it out, and add it. Thank you!
NOTE: I have not vetted all of these resources, or used them myself. They are not personal recommendations. Theyβre offered as a suggestion, a starting point, for you to look further into, and discern if theyβre a good resource for you. I will do my best to choose the resources that appear to be recommended by reputable sources.
This list is not exhaustive. I will be adding to it.
World-Wide
To start off, Iβm including this world-wide list from Wikipedia.
Itβs a dynamic list, which means it gets updated. I wonβt be able to keep up with new information added, and I havenβt looked through all the resources already there, though Iβm familiar with some listed from the U.S., but you may find this resource useful.
